KINETIC JAZZ FESTIVAL 3, 25 - 29 January 2012 There’s magic in the number 3. And even more in 3x3: this will be our 9th season since Kinetic Jazz started in 2010. It suggests coming full circle and going beyond. Many of the aims and dreams we set out to achieve have been realised: To create an acoustic concert environment, a place for exploration and experimentation. To inject the scene with a vital impulse towards cross generational exchange, inter-disciplinary development, recognition of female talent. To support new Australian work. Many initiatives have been nurtured and have taken off, such as the formation of a home grown big band (the Kinetic Jazz Orchestra), and more. Together, we’ve been able to bring quite a range of activities in the contemporary jazz field to an appreciative and growing audience. And we will continue to do so, bringing you four seasons again this year, beginning with the 2012 January Kinetic Jazz Festival. Imagine... That is what we say to the artists we invite: create a concert you cannot perform anywhere else. And we say it to you, as we invite you to let your imagination soar at our 5-day long multi-dimensional festival program:
